What’s Opening This Fall at Portland’s Theaters and Concert Halls

Every September the arts calendar in Portland fills back up. Theater companies post a whole season at once, the symphony and the ballet put dates on sale months ahead, and the opera announces a year of productions in one go. Most of it is already up. I went through what’s opening near us this fall, when each one runs, and what it costs to go.

Portland Center Stage

๐Ÿ“ 128 NW 11th Ave, Portland, OR 97209

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ 2026-2027 season

Portland Center Stage has built its 2026-2027 season around the theme โ€œThen. Now. Next.,โ€ and it’s their 20th year in residency at The Armory. Seven productions are on the slate, mixing revivals with contemporary co-productions and new plays that have won awards elsewhere, so a season ticket gets you real range rather than seven versions of the same night. Everything plays at The Armory in the Pearl District, which has a main stage at ground level and a smaller studio downstairs for the more intimate shows. One thing to know before you go: the house runs cold, so bring a layer even in September.

Oregon Symphony

๐Ÿ“ Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, Portland, OR

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ September 2026 through June 2027

This is the Oregon Symphony‘s 130th anniversary season, and the programming leans wider than usual. There are full films scored live by the orchestra, including Home Alone, Star Wars and The Princess Bride, alongside guest artists like Yo-Yo Ma, Joshua Bell, Andrew Bird and esperanza spalding. They close the year with Beethoven’s Ninth on New Year’s Eve. All of it happens at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, and with the season running through June there’s room to catch more than one program.

Oregon Ballet Theatre

๐Ÿ“ 720 S Bancroft St, Portland, OR 97239

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ 2026-27 season

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ The Family & Friends Package takes 25% off adult tickets and 50% off children’s tickets when you add Alice to your order.

Oregon Ballet Theatre‘s season pairs the big classics with newer work: Christopher Stowell’s Swan Lake, Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, and Septime Webre’s ALICE (in wonderland), plus a mixed repertory bill drawing on choreography from Dani Rowe, Christopher Wheeldon, Jiล™รญ Kyliรกn and Yin Yue. Single tickets for Swan Lake and The Nutcracker are already on sale. The company is based in South Portland, where it also runs its school. If you’re bringing kids to more than one program, the Family & Friends pricing is worth looking at before you book them separately.

Portland Opera

๐Ÿ“ Keller Auditorium, World Trade Center Theatre and Newmark Theatre, Portland, OR

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ La Traviata November 6 and 8, 2026; The Crown Maker December 4 and 5, 2026; Porgy and Bess March 5, 7, 11 and 13, 2027

Portland Opera is calling its 62nd season โ€œDriven by Vision,โ€ and the three productions are staged three different ways. La Traviata runs in concert format, The Crown Maker is a world premiere, and Porgy and Bess is staged like an old live radio show. Each one gets a short run rather than a long one, so the dates matter more than usual here. The season also moves between three rooms, the Keller Auditorium, the World Trade Center Theatre and the Newmark, so check which house your show is in before you head downtown.

Twilight Theater Company

๐Ÿ“ 7515 N Brandon Ave, Portland, OR 97217

๐Ÿ—“๏ธ October 15 to November 1, 2026

Twilight Theater Company‘s 2026 season is called โ€œMeet Us At The Edge,โ€ and the production up this fall runs October 15 to November 1. They work out of a small house in North Portland, and there isn’t a bad seat in the room. It’s community theater in the straightforward sense of the phrase: local casts, local crews, and a short run, so the window to catch this one closes fast.

Most of these are on sale now. Pick one, put the date in your calendar, and buy the ticket while you’re thinking about it.
